New Zealand Car Import regulations

The Import Regulation

New Zealand Shipping Destination ports

Auckland, Dunedin, Lyttleton, Tauranga, Welington

Age restriction

Vehicles must have three model codes i.e. “AAA”, “CBA” etc. from 2005 onwards and in some cases 2004

Other restrictions

Vehicles with large accident history are prohibited
Vehicles with tampered odometer are prohibited
Vehicles with rust or rusty body or chassis are prohibited

Road worthiness Inspection

JEVIC and MAF inspections are required to be done in Japan before importing the car to New Zealand

Import taxes rates

GST (Goods and Services Tax) : FOB price x 12.5%

Shipping Fee

Shipping is paid in New Zealand upon BOL
